A friend working in Singapore buzzed me on my msn messenger today, she is among one of those who has left the country for greener pasture, but never stop showing concern to her homeland.
She said(or typed), “what have our country turned into, we are good at nothing!”
This is true indeed, we are in such sorry state of affair.
We definetely did not have a good start to 2010.
Not even 10 days after marching into the new year, we are welcomed by all sorts of bizzare news.
Each and everyone is a tell tale sign that our country is going down the drain.
Why must I be so disappointed, Why must I be so pessimistic?
Did I overreact?
You know I did not.
First, the RF jet engine, what did they tell us? Who were prosecuted?
For goodness sake, you think we are going to buy this story, Mr Attorney General?
This does not reflect badly on the Ministry of Defence, but the whole government.
Then, the reaction of my fellow countrymen towards a decision passed by our judiciary, the machinery which supposedly to function independently as arbitrator for our democratic system.
No, I am not going yet to the independence of the judiciary system as a whole.
We should learn to respect a court’s decision, perhaps the ministry can consider adding that into the syllabus of “My Country, Malaysia”.
While I am penning my piece of view here, many gathered outside our National Mosque to protest against the decision, and there were even churches being vandalished or burned.
What has our country turned into ?
Where are the diversity and tolerance that we have been boasting all the while?
Perhaps, it is after all some myths that we were told to accept as facts.
It is no surprise many left our country for good, it is no surprise at all.
Some left with doubts of whether to come back, but we are always capable to give them the reason not to.
