The following is a letter emailed to MFN. Another Chinese newspaper carried similar story, to refute the report, The Star issued a statement today clarifying that the plot at Section 13 PJ is to be developed into a teaching facilities to accommodate the growth of UTAR.
According to the said statement, lease to UTAR would expire by May 2010, both contractual parties intended to perform the lease to its full duration.
“Hell Breaks Loose in UTAR”
CH’s fists are usually very tired nowadays. Not only is he busy squeezing the balls of the President of MCA, he also clenches his hands all over the necks of staff of The Star and the Board members. A year since the takeover of The Star as the deputy chairman he rules the organization through Boardroom terrorization. He must the only deputy chairman in the entire Bursa who can sack his chairman while the major shareholders of the company sit without so much as a squeak.
Why is that the case? OTK and Tan Sri Tee Hock Seng (treasurer general of the party) are helpless to stem his unstoppable greed and ambition because he pays them handsomely. Ironically, with their own party’s money.
The Council of UTAR as well as students and parents of UTAR should be very, very alarm with the following story. This would sent parents and students running helter skelter knowing that their children will be left on the lurch by Clement Hii’s ambitious plans to throw UTAR out of the Section 13 land in PJ.
The section 13 land where UTAR sits today is about 6 acres valued at RM60-80m. It is currently leased to UTAR at a nominal sum. This arrangement was done during Datuk Steven Tan’s time to allow UTAR to develop its City Campus, knowing that a young university like UTAR will not be able to do achieve this without cheap rentals. This was the goodwill extended to UTAR as a community service as not all courses can be practically run in the Kampar campus. This was also part of The Star’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to help the Malaysian community by providing a convenient location for tertiary education and continued education for working adults.
However, the lease expires in April, 2010 and CH is keen to kick them out by the end of this year because CH desperately knows that idiotic of a president of MCA may not last beyond the year is out. He is a man who is running against time and space.
With student exams around the corner, this would be most disruptive to the students and lecturers which should be a real concern for the parents.
Option Plan 1
CH had initially appointed an architect called Mr Goh together with a bunch of CH’s contractor friends to develop the lucrative land of Section 13, through direct NEGO. His plan was to use this project to suck out RM400m of The Star’s coffers. He was then criticized for being not transparent. The whole town of architects was talking about it and the Star being a PLC, he had to check himself to avoid the eyes of the Securities Commission for misappropriation and impropriety dealings. Besides, at that time he thought OTK could live a long a prosperous life as the president of MCA. So he could take his time to think about what to do…
So he changed his plans…….no time to lose, friend…
Option Plan 2
As fate has it, good sense overcame the delegates and the climate changed dramatically for OTK and his kuncus2, by failing to garner 50% of the delegates’ mandate.
He quickly thought of a clever plan so that The Star does not come under scrutiny of the Securities Commission. UTAR is not a PLC hence, will be less subjected to authority investigation.
His latest plan could even bring The Star 30% in profits even! Isn’t our Sibu Boy clever indeed?
He is now giving the full rights to develop the Section 13 to a developer friend. The developer will now have the rights to negotiate with the UTAR council on the development of the land. The Star is promised to profit from the deal. Now, the money will come from UTAR coffers instead of the Star!
As a result, the developer has given UTAR 2 months to move out!!
How can the agreement between The Star with the developer be signed without any design plans or approvals by the authorities ( since there is no plan to submit?)
Where is the Justice? What will happen to the students?
Clement Hii who runs a college himself is oblivious to the welfare of the students and the public. What about the staff and the lecturers of UTAR who have been there for years.
Where will UTAR go? UTAR being a young university will have no where to go in the city area.
It has no bargaining to negotiate with sophisticated and greedy developers the like of CH.
Does the Pesident of MCA care………………….? No! You were busy saving PKFZ. Were you really saving PKFZ or are you after Tiong’s RM10m? perhaps, Tiong should have paid you more but then again, you would still deny it.
The innocent victim of your own bloody foolishness, stubbornness and ..thick-skinned-ness!! Get rid of Clement Hii, President!!!!
