I would say that PR has made headlines these few days for the wrong reason.
It started when we have fractions in PAS wanting to hold Unity Talk with UMNO ended with the three supremos of the repesctive parties reaffirming their commitment to each parties respectively out in public to assure us that there are still together for the race.
This week, we cannot help but to suspect the pact again, seriously how long can this marriage last?
Again the PAS Youth exhibits their determination to meet with their counterparts from UMNO youth for an intellectual discussion and not other fellow members in the PR in a joint press conference with UMNO Youth.
Then we see the Kedah State government’s decision to demolish an abattoir being the last straw on the camel’s back causing DAP Kedah to pull out from the Coalition.
Kit Siang said this is a second confidence crisis following by the first one brought along with the Unity talk between UMNO and PAS. But Parliament Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim making all effort to assure public that there is no crisis, this everything could be sorted front put up by Anwar is contrary to Kit Siang’s view.
I believe for most Malaysian, including myself, we view the coalition as a marriage of convenience
Well, it has only been a year or more, they could still be considered in the category of ‘newly weds’, and it is at this juncture that we all hope that there is no fall out for it has not succeeded in its mission, their mission to us, is to push further reform in our government, in BN and most importantly in UMNO.
Many Malaysians see this as our way forward.
We saw their version of ’shadow cabinet’ announced yesterday, but how would it work when the coalition cannot even pull themselves together?
PR leaders, Like it or not, please salvage this marriage for the sake of all Malaysians.
We cannot, and must not let UMNO think that there is no need to change.
